S1W6 - Ducks Rebound & Extend Streak Over UW to 10
There's a joke thrown around by Duck fans that can explain a lot about the long winning streak Oregon has over its hated rival Washington: "No one has ever been able to tweet or make a facebook post about Washington beating Oregon because the last time Washington beat Oregon, there was no twitter or facebook." Again, that joke explains a lot about college football in general- dominant teams in the 21st century generate hype and publicity, while mediocre teams ones are suppressed by the same means that the dominant teams use to gain a leg up on the rest of the nation.
And that is exactly how Oregon rose to power.
On Saturday afternoon in Seattle at the newly renovated Husky Stadium, the Ducks were still feeling the burn from one of the most embarrassing losses in school history. Oregon not only lost to Colorado, they were dominated by the buffs from start to finish. The loss must have woken the Duck offense up a bit, as the unit finally got back to its normal level of production. Of course, there were some things left to be desired when it comes to execution and fluidity, but, it was very obvious that something clicked in the past week following the loss to Colorado. Marcus Mariota looked like a new man, De'Anthony Thomas found his way back into the endzone, and the receivers proved to be as dangerous as ever against the fleeting Husky defense.
Despite getting burned on some occasions, the Oregon defense did its fair share against Washington. Late in the first half trailing 10-7, Derrick Malone laid a massive hit on Washington running back Bishop Sankey jarring the ball free in the process. Senior DE Taylor Hart darted to the ball, scooped it up, and scored, giving Oregon a 14-10 lead before the half.
In the second half, Oregon's offense really started to gain momentum. When the Huskies blitzed, Mariota got the ball out of his hands quickly. When the Huskies sat back in zone, the Ducks ran the ball right at the teeth of the defense. Washington really had no answer for Oregon in the second half, and despite earning a turnover in their own red zone, Oregon put the Huskies away with a late touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Ducks will hold their heads high as they continue to march through the PAC-12 North Schedule, and continue their northwest dominance. Next up: Wazzu comes to Autzen Stadium.

Perhaps. Hehehe
Side note... I totally predicted exactly which jersey Oregon would use two years ago against Wazzu in our dynasty haha
