Week 12 Post game vs. Arizona

Tuscon, AZ - What a wild game we had ourselves down in the Arizona Desert. The Cougars and wild cats when claw to claw in this one. Both offenses looked great. Wazzu started a little slow and on second drive Conner Halliday threw an INt that was later lopped up into the air where vincent Mayle came up with it for a huge fumble return for a 69 yard TD. This game would be full of many great moments like this one.

Once again WSU's defense dissapointed as they made few stops and no turnovers. The one UA turnover was a defensive turnover! Arizona's D was swarming however, yet Halliday found ways to make room and capitalize on the zone coverage used most game. Wazzu took a 8 point lead late in the game and all their D had to do was just hold them to a FG! It didnt't happen. UA scored with 50 seconds left on the clock! Wazzu's D had another shot however as they just needed to not allow the 2 PT conversion. UA converted though so Wazzu's D had left the Offense with a challenge, get into field goal range or better in 50 seconds with all 3 time outs. More then possible but difficult non the less. After a nice 11 yard pick up on first play wazzu went into their normal no huddle offense. A huge reception to Dominque Williams over the middle to about the 49 yard line was looking awesome for cougars who would have only about 15- 20 yards to go now with all 3 time outs to be in senior Furney's range. But the ball slipped out of his hands and was lopped up much like the the play that happened earlier in 1st when UA got INT then fumbled but this time UA would come up with it!!!! there was only about 35 seconds left at this point and Arizona was still out of FG range. The D had one more chance to be the heros and now force OT. But they just let the Arizona O move the ball into FG range and even let them score a TD with 5 seconds left!!!! Wazzu down 7 now it was Hail mary time. Rahmal Dockery wisely took a knee in the endzone and let the offense try and do what they did to USC. The play was audibled 3 times players were being Hot Routed on the fly. the defense looked confused and the ball was snapped. Vince Mayle and Dominque Williams were receiving press coverage. Dominque on the outside crossed back in after breaking free first drawing the saftey help. It left Mayle wide open as he later broke free and had a 2 1/2 step lead on corner now 1 on 1 The saftey realized he had been caught shallow and turned and started sprintinh towards Mayle who was well passed him now. Clock hit 0 has Halliday heaved the ball down field towards the streaking Mayle. He hits him Mayle makes catch right on sideline and just cant keep it in as he just barely steps OB as he turned up field at the Arizona 29 yard line. The game would end and Arizona students would storm the field after a huge scare was just survived and they remain in top 10!

Now at 5-5 Wazzu returns home for senior night to battle 5-5 Utah for bowl eligibility. Expect alot of passion in Martin Stadium come saturday. As these seniors want to be first team since 2006 to go to a bowl game! If they can't pull it out next week it all comes down to the Apple Cup against top 5 Huskies!
