Week 7 vs Cal recap

Coach Shady made his debut against rival Cal and the pressure was on to keep the undefeated season alive. Things started rough for the Bruins when Bigelow broke a 81 yard TD run on the first play of the game and UCLA was behind 7-0 in an instant. The Bruins were able to answer with a nice short drive of their own setup by a kickoff return that started them at mid field and would cap off the drive with a short 6 yard TD pass. The Bruins defense would be able to keep the Cal offense at bay most of the first half after the big opening run and the UCLA offense was clicking through the air and on the ground as the Bruins went into the half up 21-14.

The second half UCLA was able to control the clock for the most part and added a fg to give them the 24-14 edge heading into the 4th. After holding off Cal on a 4th down late into the 3rd quarter Hundley would throw his 3rd TD of the game with a 34 yard connection to Lucien with a little under 5min left in the game to extend the lead to 31-14. Cal would not quit though as they drove the field and was able to inch a little closer with a touchdown followed by a 2 point conversion to bring the score to 31-22 with 1:16 remaining. They opted to kick deep and on a 3rd and long Hundley was looking to put the game away through the air but found a lane through the middle and scrambled for the first to wrap up the game to give the Bruins the win!!

Coach Shady was overwhelmed with emotion after getting his first career win and extending the Bruins to 5-0!!
